Meet Mobile has been activated. Follow your swimmers while away from the pool with the Meet Mobile app for your smart phones all weekend long. Limited events are posted. Another Long Course Meet in the books and the Tideriders once again are looking strong in the pool. At the Rec Plex Meet me in St. Louis Meet, the kids swam in two separate Age Groups at this meet, with the 13 & Older in the morning sessions and 12 & Under swimmers in the morning. CSP sent 13 swimmers to the Boilermaker Aquatics Early Bird Senior Invitational this past weekend. It was long weekend of fast swimming for the Tideriders. Competing at the meet were Cameron Back, Tiger Chen, Maggie Cox, Ashley Daniels, Lexi Daniels, Benjamin Edwards, Jack Finlay, Sarah Finlay, Jillian Franks, Evie Mauze, Luke Sloan and Lydia Welty. Our first Long Course Meet of the year was upon us quickly. It was exciting for the younger kids on the team to jump in to the 50 meter pool in Carbondale and start churning through the water. Last night was our 35th annual CSP Tideriders Award and Recognition Dinner and we were filled to capacity. It was a standing room only event! Over this past weekend the CSP Tideriders competed at the Central Sectional Region VIII Championships in Jenks, Oklahoma. This Sectional meet includes the best teams and swimmers from 5 states, which include Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Arkansas, with parts of Illinois and Iowa also at the meet. CSP placed 6th overall as a team with more than 60 teams participating in the meet. The Women's Team placed 4th overall and the Men's Team placed 14th. Two Team records were broken this weekend. This year for Swim a Thon, Age Group, Junior Varsity, Varsity and Senior Swimmers who raised over $125 were invited to a movie with the coaches. On Saturday, 84 athletes attended “Oz the Great and Powerful” along with many coaches. It was great to see all of our athletes getting to enjoy some fun time away from the pool with their team mates. CSP went in to the 8 & Under Championships with high hopes for another team victory, and our young swimmers did not disappoint. Coming off Division I Champs, we had quite a few swimmers compete in the HEAT Lightening Meet. Winning High Point Awards were Koji Barrette (10 & Under Boys), Abbey Owenby (11 – 12 Girls), Mikayla Kempf (13 – 14 Girls) and Jeffrey Martin (13 – 14 Boys).
