Evan Noble who swims in the Senior Elite group is named to the 2009-2010 USA National Youth Team. This is the 3rd straight year CSP has had a swimmer named to the National Youth Team. The criteria gets harder each year and this years group had to be an athlete 18 or under who is not entering college and ranks Top 6 in the country in an Olympic competed event. CSP was well represented by Daniel Miller, Taylor Reynolds, Bobby Jones, Evan Noble, Adam Sharp, and Nate Weiss at the 2009 USA Junior National Championships in Federal Way, Washington this last week August 10th - the 14th. All three individual swimmers Daniel, Taylor, and Evan qualified for finals during the week. Congrats to those swimmers participating at the Central Zones Championship. In the 10 & Under Age Group, Tiger Chen placed in both breast stroke events and participated in relays, while Melissa Melnick swam both the 50 Fly and 50 Free as well as participating in relays. Jordan Cooper recently competed in the 2009 CanAm games and based on her excellent performances she was selected to be a member of the USA Youth Parapan American GamesSwim Team. Jordan placed first in the 50 and 100 meter Breaststrokes, 1st in the 100 Backstroke, and 3rd in the 50 meter Freestyle. She will represent the USA at the 2009 Youth Parapan American Games October 5th through the 25th in Bogota, Columbia. Scott Jostes representing Long Horn Aquatics (University of Texas), Bennett Clark representing Cal (University of California Berkeley) and Cassie Luhrsen Indiana University have been competing at the USA World Championship Trials this week in Indianapolis, Indiana. All three swimmers are long time CSP athletes and all swimmers are posting personal best times. Scott placed 16th in the 200 Free and 18th in the 100 Free. We have once again been named a Silver Medal Club by USA Swimming. The Top 100 Clubs in the Nation receive this distinction. This marks the 7th Straight year our Club has received this honor since the Club Excellance program began in 2003. We are the only club locally to receive no worse than Silver Medal Status each year the program has been in existance. The first day of summer is now officially here. Age Group, Junior Varsity, Competitive Prep, and Varsity all began their official summer schedule today. We had a great turn out from all of the groups and only lost two swimmers to the "cold" water. There are still a couple of swimmers in school and we look forward to seeing them soon, but we did have one swimmer get practice in this morning and then head off to school.
