CSP Finishes 6th Place at Speedo Central Sectional Championships
Over this past weekend the CSP Tideriders competed at the Central Sectional Region VIII Championships in Jenks, Oklahoma. This Sectional meet includes the best teams and swimmers from 5 states, which include Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Arkansas, with parts of Illinois and Iowa also at the meet. CSP placed 6th overall as a team with more than 60 teams participating in the meet. The Women's Team placed 4th overall and the Men's Team placed 14th.
Two Team records were broken this weekend. The Women's 400 Free Relay placed 2nd in an exciting race with Columbia Swim Club that came down to a touch out finish. The A Relay of Samm Crocker, Gabriela Vieira, Melissa Melnick, and Helen Wojdylo smashed our Team record and in the process qualified the relay for next December's Junior National Championships. Rachel Kokenyesi also broke the Team 17-18 Women's 200 Back record while winning the Bonus Heat for that event.
The Team also registered Two podium finshes at the meet. Both came on the Women's Relay events. The Women's 400 A Free Relay, and the Women's A 400 Medley Relay with Rachel, Lydia Welty, Gabriela, and Samm placed 3rd. A podium finish is when a relay or individual places top 3 in an event and then gets awarded their medal on the awards podium.
