  It is finally here. Daniel Miller through his performances last summer was named to the 2009 USA Men’s National Youth Team and the competition for him to represent the USA starts tomorrow, Friday May 21st, and goes through the weekend. Daniel will be competing in Vancouver, Canada at the 2009 Mel Zajac Jr International Swim Meet. Daniel will compete in the 100, 200, 400 Freestyles and the 50, 100, and 200 Fly events. The St. Louis Post Dispatch just came out with the All Metro Swimming teams based on this year’s Missouri State Girl’s High School Swimming Championships. CSP did very well in the selections. First Team swimmers were Annie Goessling freshman at MICDS and Etinosa Ogbevoen freshman at Ladue. Second Team swimmers were Maddie Wall freshman at Ladue, Lanie Jochens senior at St. Joe’s, and Morgan Mullenix freshman at Villa. The Wiese Brothers used their Coach of the Day priviledge that they won at the CSP Trivia Night and Auction last night. John David began JV with a game of ball outside and them brought them in and ran them through a well planned workout.  After the work out he played a game of Sharks and Minnows and then finished up the practice with a fast paced game of False Start.  John David was well prepared with his workout and even had time to have it laminated! Our first meet of the year was a great way to start the year.  We really don't keep score at this meet, however, they were posting the scores of the meet as if they were.  We were a point and a half behind a team from Peoria for second place.  What a fun finish!  This meet can be confusing for some as they allow us to convert times from the Short Course Season.  These conversions can be frustrating for some, but then when the final numbers come and Age Group...

 Will Derdeyn   A senior, Derdeyn had two goals and three assists in the Jr. Bills' 9-4 victory over DeSmet in the district championship game. In three games last week he totaled six goals, seven assists and 10 steals, and he had 34 goals and 42 assists for the season. A first-team All-Metro swimmer, Derdeyn was the only area swimmer to win four gold medals at state. He plans to attend Dartmouth.

 Etinosa Ogbevoen a member of the Senior Elite group has been chosen to be an Athlete Representative to the Central Zone. While Nate Weiss and Mary Beth Howard also of the Senior Elite group have been chosen as Athlete Representatives to our Ozark LSC. All three athletes will go to the USA Swimming convention held in September to represent the athlete view and vote for the sport. This is a special honor for all 3 athletes and a wonderful opportunity for them as well.

Scott Jostes a CSP swimmer who now competes for the University of Texas had a tremendous showing at the NCAA Division I Championships this past weekend at Texas A & M University. Scott a sophmore for Texas swam on 3 relays that set American records. They were the 200 Free Relay which placed 4th, the 200 Medley Relay which placed 5th and the 800 Free Relay which placed 1st.  Etinosa Ogbevoen was selected to attend USA Swimmings Diversity Camp which is held at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado from April 23 - 26, 2009. Sixteen female athletes from United States Swimming are chosen to the Camp. So this is a tremendous honor for Etinosa, her family, and for us at CSP.

CSP’s first day at Sectionals was a fast one!  Maddie Wall finished in 14th place in the 1000 Womens Free, while Elizabeth Krane, Merrill Thomas, and Megan Luhrsen also competed in that event.  On the Men’s side, Daniel Miller won the 1000 Free, while setting a new CSP 17 - 18 and Open Team Record.  Evan Noble (4th), Charles Du (13th), and Bobby Jones (16th) also scored points for the Men.  Patrick Wall and Alex Glogoza also competed in the 1000...

2009 Ozark Short Course Champs What an incredible meet!  CSP was “tunedý up for the meet and it showed.  In one of the closest meets in years, CSP finished in second place, only 90 points behind Rockwood Swim Club.  CSP won more Team Age Groups than any other team, winning the 10 & Under Girls, 11 – 12 Boys, 13 – 14 Girls, 15 & Over Girls, and the 15 & Over Boys!  On Individual High points, CSP had more swimmers placing in the Top 3 than any other team,...
