CSP took Mother’s Day weekend to Lenexa, Kansas and competed in the Rose Memorial Swim Meet. We had over 100 swimmers attend this prelim/final meet at the pool that will host this summer’s central zones meet. We had may outstanding performances by all of our swimmers! Max Marcus a member of our Elite Group and a Junior at Kirkwood High School has made his verbal commitment to Princeton University. Princeton is a private Ivy League research university located in Princeton, New Jersey. Max will join the Tigers in the Fall of 2024. Princeton is an NCAA Division I University that competes in the Ivy League. Please join me in congratulating Max on making such a big decision! Go Tigers!

The first Long Course Meet of the Year was a record-breaking year. Emma Fouke broke the 11 – 12 Girls 50 Breast, which has stood since 1987. Then Emma teamed with Marissa Kelley, Lucy Baley and Prairey Maxwell to break the 11 – 12 Girls 200 Medley Relay. Great way to begin the Long Course Season! We took 56 qualified CSP athletes to the 2023 Spring Central Zone Region VIII Championships at the University of Missouri this past weekend. We were the biggest team at the meet with 58 teams representing Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and small parts of Iowa and Illinois. CSP won the Girl’s Championship, the Boy’s Championship and the Combined Team Championship. The last 3 Sectional meets that we have taken our whole team to we have won. CSP went into the 8 & Under Championship this year as the defending champs. With 55 athletes entered in the meet, CSP brought more swimmers than any other team. By the end of the meet, CSP once again came out on top. Since 1996, CSP has won this meet 26 times! Deon Saunders won the Boys High Point Award at this meet, with Jason Lai finishing in 4th. With a week left before Sectionals, CSP sent a limited number of swimmers to this year’s Senior Champs and swam to a strong second place finish. Austin Chu broke another Ozark Record, 200 Back and a Team Record, 200 Free at this meet. Winning events were Austin, Asher Cole, Charlie Hill, Cohen Osborn, Mia Panic and Noel Rice.
