Our first meet of the year was a great way to start the year. We really don't keep score at this meet, however, they were posting the scores of the meet as if they were. We were a point and a half behind a team from Peoria for second place. What a fun finish! This meet can be confusing for some as they allow us to convert times from the Short Course Season. Will Derdeyn A senior, Derdeyn had two goals and three assists in the Jr. Bills' 9-4 victory over DeSmet in the district championship game. In three games last week he totaled six goals, seven assists and 10 steals, and he had 34 goals and 42 assists for the season. A first-team All-Metro swimmer, Derdeyn was the only area swimmer to win four gold medals at state. He plans to attend Dartmouth.
Etinosa Ogbevoen a member of the Senior Elite group has been chosen to be an Athlete Representative to the Central Zone. While Nate Weiss and Mary Beth Howard also of the Senior Elite group have been chosen as Athlete Representatives to our Ozark LSC. All three athletes will go to the USA Swimming convention held in September to represent the athlete view and vote for the sport. This is a special honor for all 3 athletes and a wonderful opportunity for them as well.
Scott Jostes a CSP swimmer who now competes for the University of Texas had a tremendous showing at the NCAA Division I Championships this past weekend at Texas A & M University. Scott a sophmore for Texas swam on 3 relays that set American records. They were the 200 Free Relay which placed 4th, the 200 Medley Relay which placed 5th and the 800 Free Relay which placed 1st. Etinosa Ogbevoen was selected to attend USA Swimmings Diversity Camp which is held at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado from April 23 - 26, 2009. Sixteen female athletes from United States Swimming are chosen to the Camp. So this is a tremendous honor for Etinosa, her family, and for us at CSP.

Maddie Wall finished in 14th place in the 1000 Womens Free, while Elizabeth Krane, Merrill Thomas, and Megan Luhrsen also competed in that event.
