Meet Reports Bucceto's Open & Saluki International
The Long Course Meet Season has officially begun for the CSP Tideriders! This past weekend, our team participated in two different meets. The Elite Squad traveled to Bloomington, Indiana to participate in the Bucceto’s Open. This was a prelim/final meet where the Top 24 came back and competed. Gabby Vieira achieved a 100 Fly NCSA Junior Nationals cut, and Sarah Finlay did as well in the 200 Back.
Winning individual events was Gabriela Vieira, while placing in the Top 8 were Rebecca Corzine, Maggie Cox, Benjamin Edwards, Sarah Finlay, Peri George, Erin Kelly, Mikayla Kempf, Sophia Marusic, Evie Mauze, Collin Schott, Lydia Welty and Helen Wojdylo. Finishing in the Top 16 were Jillian Behrens, Katie Brodersen, Colin Burke, Audrey Kelly, Nicole Shearing and Bridget Sheridan.
In the Women’s 800 Free Relay, Sarah, Evie, Helen and Gabriela were 2nd, Erin, Maggie, Katie and Rebecca were 6th and Sophia, Mikayla, Jillian and Peri were 7th.
In the 400 Free Relay, Gabriela, Sarah, Lydia and Mikayla were 3rd, Erin, Sophia Evie and Helen were 5th, Jillian, Bridget, Katie and Peri were 8th and Rebecca, Maggie, Nicole and Audrey were 9th.
In the 400 Medley Relay, Sarah, Lydia, Gabriela and Sophia were 2nd, while Evie, Erin, Rebecca and Mikayla were 5th.
The rest of the team traveled to Carbondale, Illinois and competed at the Saluki International Meet. This is a great meet where all swimmers who want to swim the 400 Free can participate and establish a time for the season. We also had a number of swimmers compete in the 800 Free and they all did a fantastic job. We had 100% Best Times in the 800 Free earning 1 AAA time, 8 A times and 9 BB times!
In the 10 & Unders, winning individual events were Madeleine Collier, Maya Esparza and Graham Zucker. Placing in the Top 8 were Nolan Alper-Esko, Sammie Esparza, Graham Fredman, Sophie Henriksen, Eric Ji, Karissa Kantz, Catherine Liao, Maddoc McGowan, Lee Naber and Andrew Smock. Finishing in the Top 16 were Morgan Hast and Kaia Mills-Lee. Also competing in Carbondale were Nicole Alper-Esko, Everdine Ferguson, Hennessy McGowan, Kennedy McGowan, Lochlan McGowan, Katie Murdoch, Alicia Palatt, McClain Suelthaus, Sutton Suelthaus and Henry Zucker.
In the 11 – 12 Age Group finishing in the Top 8 were Lauren Beard, Meaghan Cannon, Payton Dunn, Sophie Fredman, Molly Nikkel, Andrew O’Brien, Elisabeth Ragan and Drew Willmann. Placing in the Top 16 were Koji Barrette, Meghan Bryan, Benjamin Edwards, Jackson Fox and Maddie Palatt. Also swimming in Carbondale were Madigan Kinsey, Nathan Lin, Hutton Murdoch, Amy Pumm, Lily Ragan and Noah Smock.
In the 13 – 14 Age Group, Matthew Hillmer won the 800 Free, while Brigid Andrews, Alex Benduski, Claire Brouillet, Riley Deutsch, Christina Jurotich, Katie Knapp, Taylor Korte, Caroline Liekweg, Ellie Marshall, Cami Nourie, Sam Porter, Michael Raskin and Wil Welch all placed in the Top 8. Nicole Beard, Jack Bodnar, Alex Fox, Alexa Kouvelis, Charlotte Marshall, Megan Ross and Jake Varela finished in the Top 16. Also swimming in Carbondale was Lauren Bell.
In the 15 & Over Age Group, Justin Andrews won an individual event, while Tiger Chen placed in the Top 8 and Jillian Franks, Sophia Garland, Max Goldenberg and Vaios Kouvelis all placed in the Top 16. Anna Reichert also competed in Carbondale.
