CSP Record Breaking Performances at Sectionals

 

The CSP Tideriders took to the pool again this past weekend at the Speedo Central Sectional Region VIII Championships held in Jenks, Oklahoma. The meet is a Senior competition requiring qualifying times featuring more than 50 teams from 5 states. The States are Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. CSP came in 6th place as a combined team, 4th place as a women’s team, and 12th place as a men’s team. We had 38 athletes in 162 total events putting us just behind the Kansas City Blazers with 39 swimmers and 173 swims as the 2nd largest team.

Record setting performances were turned in by Justin Andrews who broke the 15-16 Boys Team record in the 200 IM with a 1:52.89 while placing 5th place in the A Final. The Women’s 400 Medley Relay team of Sarah Finlay, Lydia Welty, Gabby Vieira, and Samm Crocker made it to the podium with a 3rd place finish and new team 15-18 and Open 400 Medley Relay records with a time of 3:50.31. Lastly, in an exciting 4 team race at the end of the meet, the 400 Free Relay team of Samm Crocker, Gabby Vieira, Melissa Melnick and Helen Wojdylo took 4th place while breaking the 15-18 and Open team 400 Free Relay records. Colleen Young broke her own Paralympic American Records in the 100 and 200 Breaststrokes. Congratulations to all our team record breakers.

We also received 6 new NCSA Junior Nationals Times from Justin Andrews in the 200, 500, and 1000 Free, Ashley Daniels in the 100 Breast, Sarah Finlay in the 200 Free, and Helen Wojdylo in the 200 Breast.
