Tideriders win Ozark A Champs!

So while the meet shirts may have been a year early, the CSP Avengers Assembled as a team and took home the Tideriders first ever win at the Ozark A Champs that was held last weekend in Carbondale, Illinois.  We had 111 entrants in to the meet this year, swimming over 540 individual events, and participating in 58 different relay swims.  All of those numbers were considerably more than any other team entered in this year’s meet.  Every swimmer, every race and every point made all the difference in the world.

All weekend long we had coaches coming up to our staff saying how impressed they were with our swimmers.  We looked good, we swam great and we made our presence felt.

When it was all said and done, CSP won more Age Groups than any other team, winning the 10 & Under Girls, 10 & Under Boys, 13 – 14 Girls and 15 & Over Girls.  We were second in the 13 – 14 Boys, while the 11 – 12 Boys & 15 & Over Boys were fourth, and 11 – 12 Girls were fifth. 

The 10 & Unders combined to win over all, beating out CRCY and PKWY.  The 13 – 14 Year Olds also combined to win over all, beating both FAST and PKWY, while the 15 & Over’s also combined to win, beating out FAST and PKWY as well. 

There were many team and American Records also set at the meet this weekend.  Colleen Young set three new American Records in the 50 Breast, 100 Breast and 200 Breast, breaking her own previous times in those events.  Evie Mauze broke Sarah Finlay’s Team Record in the 13 – 14 Girls 200 Back Stroke, while Sarah Donohue added the 8 & Under Girls 50 Back Stroke to her record breaking season and Graham Zucker broke his own 8 & Under Boys 50 Back Stroke time.

We had six new NCSA Junior National cuts, eleven new Sectional cuts, eleven new USA AAAA Times, twenty one new USA AAA Times, fifty six new USA AA Times and forty one new USA A Times achieved at this meet.

In the 10 & Under Girls, they were led by the third place finisher in High Point Madeleine Collier.  Madeleine won an individual event, while Anna Scott Baur, Sarah Donohue, Maya Esparza, Karissa Kantz, Amelia Koch and Catherine Liao all finished in the Top 8, while Margaret Beimdiek, Audrey Dino, Sophie Henriksen and Sophie Thompson all placed in the Top 16.  In the Girls Medley Relay, Sophie, Anna Scott, Madeleine and Amelia were 2nd, while Maya, Catherine, Karissa and Sophie were 5th and Margaret, Audrey, Sammie Esparza and Sarah also swam.  In the Free Relay, Madeleine, Amelia, Sophie and Anna Scott were 4th, Sarah, Catherine, Maya and Sophie were 6th, and Margaret, Sammie, Audrey and Katherine Roderick also swam. 

In the 10 & Under Boys, we had the youngest boys in the meet participating in relays in six year old Henry Zucker and seven year old Mitchell HardemanLewis Dennison, Henry Hardeman, Maddoc McGowan, Ethan Nagasako, Michael Tu and Graham Zucker all placed in the Top 8!  In the Medley Relay, Graham, Michael, Henry and Lewis were 2nd, while Maddoc, Graham Fredman, Ethan and Mitchell also competed.  In the Free Relay, Lewis, Henry, Maddoc and Graham were 2nd and Graham, Michael, Ethan and Henry were 4th.  Michael and Henry both placed in the Top 10 for High Point for the 10 & Under Boys.

In the 11 – 12 Girls Age Group, Meaghan Cannon placed in the Top 8, while Lauren Beard, Bailey Hahn, Kaitlyn Rowbottom and Elizabeth Wiese all placed in the Top 16.  In the Medley Relay, Meaghan, Lauren, Kaitlyn and Elizabeth were 6th, Bailey, Madigan Kinsey, Elisabeth Ragan and Sophie Fredman were 8th, and Madeline Palatt, Molly Nikkel, Caroline Roderick and Lily Ragan also swam in the Medley Relays.  In the Free Relays, Meaghan, Elizabeth, Lauren and Kaitlyn were 6th, while Elisabeth, Bailey, Sophie and Caroline were 8th and Madigan, Lily, Madeline and Molly also swam in the Free Relays.

In the 11 – 12 Boys, Andrew O’Brien and Drew Willmann both placed in the Top 8.  Swimming the in Medley Relay and placing 6th were Drew, Andrew, Stevie Keyes and Hutton Murdoch, while Jackson Fox, Ethan Doll, Koji Barrette and Noah Unger were 8th.  In the Free Relay, Drew, Andrew, Koji and Stevie were 6th while Jackson, Ethan, Nathan Lin and Benjamin Blinder were 8th.  Drew finished in the Top 10 for High Point for the 11 – 12 Boys!

In the 13 – 14 Girls winning individual events were Katie Brodersen and Melissa Melnick, while placing in the Top 8 were Brigid Andrews, Natalie Crocker, Peri George, Christina Jurotich, Caroline Liekweg and Evie Mauze.  Finishing in the Top 16 wereClaire Brouillet, Caroline Davis, Riley Deutsch, Alli Hickenbotham, Katie Knapp, Taylor Korte, Alexa Kouvelis and Cami Nourie.  Winning the Girls 800 Free Relay were Melissa, Evie, Katie and Brigid, while Natalie, Cami, Caroline and Peri finished 3rd!  In the 400 Medley Relay, Evie, Natalie, Melissa and Brigid won, while Taylor, Christina, Peri and Katie were 5th.  Also swimming in the Medley Relays were Riley, Katie, Alli and Cami, Caroline, Alex Fox, Corinne Michael and Meg Ross, and Alexa, Nicole Beard, Claire and Caroline.   In the Free Relay, Melissa, Natalie, Evie and Brigid won again, while Christina, Katie, Corinne and Peri were 4th, and Alex, Cami, Claire and Riley as well as Caroline, Meg, Caroline and Nicole all competed as well.  Abbey Owenby also competed with the 13 – 14 Girls.  Katie, Melissa and Evie all placed in the Top 10 for High Point for the 13 – 14 Girls.

In the 13 – 14 Boys, Matthew Hillmer, Jeffrey Martin and Evan Parres, all placed in the Top 8, while Jack Bodnar, Lucas Doll, Aaron Garner andSam Porter all finished in the Top 16.  In the 800 Free Relay, Jeffrey, Matthew, Sam and Jack were 2nd, while Wil Welch, Michael Raskin, Lucas and Avery Fredman finished 4th.  In the Medley Relay, Jeffrey, Matthew, Wil and Lucas were 6th while Jack, Sam, Aaron and Avery were 7th.  In the Free Relay, Jeffrey, Matthew, Lucas and Jack were 4th while Sam, Wil, Aaron and Avery were 6th.  Jeffrey, Matthew and Evan all placed in the Top 10 for 13 – 14 Boys High Point.

In the 15 & Over Girls, Gabby Vieira won High Point, while Lydia Welty was 2nd, Helen Wojdylo 3rd, Sarah Finlay 4th, Lexi Daniels 5th and Maggie Cox 10th!  Winning individual events were Samm Crocker, Sarah, Gabby, Lydia andHelen Finishing in the Top 8 wereRebecca Corzine, Maggie,Ashley Daniels, Lexi,Nicole Maurer andColleen Young.  Jillian Behrens, Sarah Fauska, Erin Kelly, Mikayla Kempf, Sophia Marusic, Mary O’Leary andNicole Shearing all placed in the Top 16.  Winning the Girls 800 Free Relay were Gabby, Helen, Lexi and Sarah, while Lydia, Maggie, Sarah and Rebecca were 3rd, and Jillian, Erin, Mikayla and Sophia also competed.  Winning the Medley Relay was Sarah, Lydia, Gabby and Samm, while Bridget Sheridan, Ashley, Helen and Maggie were 4th and also swimming in the Medley Relays were Mikayla, Erin, Nicole and Sophia, Audrey Kelly, Colleen, Rebecca and Sarah and Jillian, Lexi, Nicole and Mary.  In the Free Relays, Samm, Gabby, Lydia and Helen won, while Sarah, Maggie, Ashley and Sarah were 4th.  Also swimming in the Free Relays were Rebecca, Nicole, Bridget and Audrey, as well as Sophia, Erin, Jillian and Mikayla.

In the 15 & Over Boys, Justin Andrews, Cameron Back, Christopher Reichert andLuke Sloan all placed in the Top 8, while Colin Burke, Peter Crocker, Benjamin Edwards andCollin Schott all finished in the Top 16.  Justin, Peter, Christopher and Collin finished 3rd in the 800 Free Relay, while Cameron, Vaios Kouvelis, Michael Nester and Max Goldenberg were 10th.  In the Medley Relay, Luke, Christopher, Cameron and Justin were 4th, Collin, Jack Finlay, Max and Peter were 9th and Iyayi Ogbevoen, Benjamin, Michael and Vaios also swam in the relay.  In the Free Relay, Justin, Luke, Peter and Christopher were 4th, Jack, Iyayi, Cameron and Max were 11th, and also swimming the Free Relay were Collin, Vaios, Michael and Colin. 

Big thanks to our Officials who worked the meet this weekend.  Tania Hillmer, Rob Jurotich and Kelly Porter put in countless hours on the pool deck to help run such a smooth meet.  And thanks again to all the parents who helped time this weekend as well.  We hope that you enjoyed your time on deck and we appreciate you helping to volunteer.
