CSP Finishes Third at A Champs
What an amazing weekend at the Ozark A Champs meet that was held in Carbondale, Illinois. As a team, the CSP Tideriders walked away with the 3rd Place trophy, but that is only the start of a great team accomplishment. CSP won all of the girl’s age groups at this meet, meaning that the 10 & Under Girls, 11 – 12 Girls, 13 – 14 Girls and 15 & Over Girls scored more points than all of the other teams in their age groups! On the Boys side of the meet, the 10 & Under Boys were 5th, 11 – 12 Boys were 3rd, 13 – 14 Boys were 3rd, and the 15 & Over Boys finished in 2nd place. CSP had 92 athletes, 511 individual swims and 46 relays, which were all tops for all other teams in attendance. As a team, we had 72% best times and 16 new records were established.
Gabriela Vieira led the record breaking way, setting 10 new records by herself. She established new 15 – 16 Team top times in the 100 Free, 100 Back, 200 Back and 100 Fly. Her 100 Back, 200 Back, and 100 Fly were also Ozark Records for the 15 – 16 girl’s age group, as well as new team standards for the Open Girls. Lydia Welty broke her own team record in the girls 13 – 14 200 IM. Colleen Young continues to lower her American Records in the breast stroke events, by establishing best times in the 50, 100 and 200 yard breast stroke events. The 13 – 14 Girls also broke two long standing team records in the 400 Free Relay and the 800 Free Relay. The participants of those relays were Lydia Welty, Melissa Melnick, Erin Kelly and Lexi Daniels.
CSP also had a number of swimmers placing in the Top 5 for high point in their age groups. Lydia Welty won the 13 – 14 Girls Age Group, while placing 2nd was Natalie Crocker for the 11 – 12 Girls and Gabriela Vieira for the 15 & Over Girls. Lauren Beard was 4th in the 10 & Under Girls, Luke Sloan was 4th in the 15 & Over Boys, while Melissa Melnick was 5th for the 13 – 14 Girls.
The 10 & Under Girls 2012 A Championship Team was comprised of Lauren Beard,Meghan Bryan, Rebecca Crane, Eva Farria, Carly Fesler, Sophie Fredman, Elisabeth Ragan, Lily Ragan, Caroline Roderick, Kaitlyn Rowbottom and Elizabeth Wiese. The Boys Team was comprised of Charlie Bryan, Lewis Dennison, Ethan Doll, Jackson Fox, Graham Fredman and Nathan Lin. Lauren, Meghan, Rebecca, Ethan, Sophie, Caroline and Elizabeth all placed in the Top 8, while Eva, Carly, Elisabeth and Kaitlyn all placed in the Top 16. In the 200 Medley Relays, the girl’s team of Carly, Lauren, Meghan and Rebecca were the champions, while Caroline, Sophie, Kaitlyn and Elizabeth were 5th. For the boys, Lewis, Nathan, Ethan and Graham were 4th in the 200 Medley Relay. In the Free Relays, Lauren, Meghan, Caroline and Rebecca were 2nd and Elisabeth, Elizabeth, Kaitlyn and Carly were 6th for the girls, while Graham, Nathan, Jackson and Charlie were 4th for the boys.
The 11 – 12 Girls 2012 A Championship Team was comprised of Nicole Beard, Rachel Crane, Natalie Crocker,Riley Deutsch, Katie Knapp, Caroline Liekweg, Claire Lin, Corinne Michael, Cami Nourie and Abbey Owenby. The Boys Team was comprised of Jack Bodnar, Avery Fredman, Aaron Garner, Matt Graham, Matthew Hillmer, Stevie Keyes, Alex Miller, Jake Varela, Wil Welch and Drew Willmann. Natalie won multiple individual events, while Jack, Aaron, Matthew, Caroline, Corinne, Alex, Cami, Abbey and Jake all placed in the Top 8. Placing in the Top 16 were Nicole, Rachel, Riley, Matt, Katie, Claire, Wil and Drew. In the 400 Medley Relays, Abbey, Claire, Corinne and Natalie were 2nd for the girls, while Drew, Alex, Matt and Jack were 4th, and Jake, Wil, Avery and Stevie were 6th for the boys. Winning the girls 400 Free Relay was Natalie, Corinne, Cami and Abbey, while Claire, Caroline, Riley and Katie were 6th. On the Boys 400 Free Relays, Jake, Aaron, Alex and Jack were 3rd, and Avery, Drew, Wil and Matt were 7th.
The 13 – 14 Girls 2012 A Championship Team was comprised of Claire Albert, Jillian Behrens, Katie Brodersen, Rebecca Corzine, Lexi Daniels, Caroline Davis, Sophia Garland, Peri George, Carlye Goldenberg, Christina Jurotich, Erin Kelly, Evie Mauze, Melissa Melnick, Anna Reichert, Julia Tackes, Lydia Welty and Colleen Young. For the Boys, Tiger Chen, Peter Crocker, Lucas Doll, Max Goldenberg, Eric Graham, Sammy Keyes, Jeffrey Martin and Iyayi Ogbevoen all competed. Lydia won multiple individual events, while placing in the Top 8 were Tiger, Rebecca, Peter, Lexi, Max, Erin, Evie, Melissa, Iyayi and Colleen. Jillian, Katie, Peri, Carlye, Christina, Jeffrey and Julia all placed in the Top 16. Winning the Girls 800 Free Relay was Lydia, Melissa, Erin and Lexi, while Jillian, Evie, Rebecca and Katie were 5th. In the Boys 800 Free Relay, Tiger, Iyayi, Max and Peter finished 3rd. In the 400 Medley Relays, Evie, Erin, Lydia and Melissa were 3rd, Peri, Colleen, Rebecca and Jillian were 5th, Claire, Christina, Katie and Julia were 8th and Caroline, Anna, Sophia and Caryle were 10th for the girls. For the boys, Iyayi, Tiger, Max and Peter were 3rd, while Eric, Jeffrey, Lucas and Sammy were 5th. In the 400 Free Relays, Lydia, Melissa, Erin and Lexi were 3rd, Rebecca, Julia, Evie and Jillian were 5th, Colleen, Katie, Peri and Claire were 9th and Christina, Anna, Sophia and Caroline were 11th for the girls. Iyayi, Tiger, Max and Peter were 3rd for the 13 – 14 Boys 400 Free Relay.
The 15 & Over Girls 2012 A Championship Team was comprised of Maggie Cox, Samm Crocker, Ashley Daniels, Haley Debandt, Sarah Finlay, Jillian Franks, Meghan Glogoza, Rachel Kokenyesi, Nicole Maurer, Taylor Maurer, Mary Kathryn O’Leary, Claire Rater, Ashley Reichert, Bridget Sheridan, Danielle Sikora, Grace Stiegemeyer, Gabriela Vieira and Helen Wojdylo. For the Boys, Justin Andrews, Cameron Back, Benjamin Edwards, Jack Finlay, Adam Hotaling, Garrett Knasel, Vaios Kouvelis, Hunter Mehring, Will O’Shea, Christopher Reichert, Collin Schott and Luke Sloan all competed. Hunter and Gabriela both won individual events, while Maggie, Samm, Ashley, Sarah, Garrett, Rachel, Taylor, Will, Helen, Christopher, Danielle, Luke and Grace all placed in the Top 8. Placing in the Top 16 were Justin, Cameron, Haley, Jack, Meghan, Nicole and Bridget. In the 800 Free Relays, Gabby, Grace, Maggie and Sarah won, while Taylor, Nicole, Haley and Rachel were 5th, Helen, Samm, Ashley and Bridget were 7th for the girls. For the boys, Luke, Justin, Hunter and Garrett were 2nd, while Vaios, Cameron, Adam and Benjamin were 9th. In the Girls 400 Medley Relays, Rachel, Helen, Gabriela and Samm were 2nd, Sarah, Maggie, Haley and Grace were 4th, Bridget, Ashley, Claire and Taylor were 6th, and Ashley, Danielle, Nicole and Meghan were 10th. The Boys team of Christopher, Jack, Cameron and Adam were 6th, while Collin, Benjamin, Garrett and Vaios were 10th. In the 400 Free Relays, Gabriela, Samm, Grace and Maggie were 2nd, Sarah, Rachel, Haley and Ashley were 4th, Helen, Meghan, Ashley and Nicole were 9th, and Bridget, Danielle, Jillian and Mary Kathryn were 10th. The Boys team of Hunter, Christopher, Luke and Justin were 3rd, while Jack, Adam, Cameron and Collin were 8th.
