Congratulations to the CSP Tideriders on a record breaking performance at this past weekend’s Ozark A Championships, held in Carbondale, Ill. CSP swimmers broke numerous records, earned many new Sectional Cuts and achieved over 70% best times as a team. Melissa Melnick set three new team records, breaking the 11 – 12 Girls 50 Free, 100 Free and 50 Fly, Sarah Finlay set the 13 – 14 Girls 200 Back, and Colleen Young broke the American Record in the 100 Breast and re-broke her own 200 Breast record as well. Taylor Maurer and Sarah Finlay both qualified for Open Water Nationals being held in Fort Myers, Florida. CSP Swimmers achieved 29 new Sectional Cuts over the weekend, with Maggie Cox (3), Samm Crocker, Haley Debandt, Sarah Fauska (2), Jack Finlay (4), Audrey Kelly, Nicole Maurer (2), Taylor Maurer (2), Hunter Mehring (2), Melissa Melnick (2), Ashley Reichert, Michael Seifert, Luke Sloan (4), and Grace Stiegemeyer (4). In the High Point Races, Melissa was 3rd for the 11 – 12 Girls and Sarah was 3rd for the 13 – 14 Girls. CSP was 3rd in the 11 – 12 Girls, 1st in the 13 – 14 Girls, 2nd in the 15 & Over Girls, and 3rd in the 15 & Over Boys. As a team CSP finished in 4th, in one of the tightest Ozark Championships in recent memory.
In the 10 & Under Girls, Lauren Beard, Rebecca Crane and Joni Halladay all qualified in the Top 8.
In the 11 – 12 Girls, Melissa Melnick won 2 events, while placing in the Top 8 were Katie Jackson and Evie Mauze. Swimming in Consolations were Katie Brodersen, Natalie Crocker, Peri George, Christina Jurotich, Claire Lin and Abbey Owenby. In the girl’s relays, Evie, Katie, Peri and Melissa were 3rd in the Medley while Abbey, Christina, Katie and Natalie placed 5th. In the Free, Evie, Natalie, Melissa and Leda Liang were 3rd, and Peri, Katie, Christina and Katie were 5th.
In the 13 – 14 Age Group, winning events were Maggie Cox, Sarah Finlay and Lydia Welty, while placing in the Top 8 were Justin Andrews, Tiger Chen, Ashley Daniels, Lexi Daniels, Audrey Kelly, Erin Kelly, Nicole Maurer, Iyayi Ogbevoen, Collin Schott, and Colleen Young. Finishing in the Top 16 were Rebecca Corzine, Benjamin Edwards, and Bridget Sheridan, while Mary O’Leary also competed with the 13 – 14 Girls. In the 800 Free Relay, the girls team of Sarah, Maggie, Lydia and Nicole were 2nd, while Lexi, Ashley, Erin and Audrey were 5th. The Boys team of Justin, Collin, Iyayi and Michael Nester were 3rd. In the Medley Relay, Sarah, Lydia, Nicole and Maggie won, while Erin, Ashley, Audrey and Lexi finished in 8th. Also swimming the Medley Relay for the Girls were Bridget, Colleen, Rebecca and Megan Malloy. Winning the Girls Free Relay was the team of Sarah, Maggie, Lydia and Audrey, while Nicole, Lexi, Ashley and Erin were 7th. Also competing in the Free Relay, Megan, Julia Tackes, Rebecca and Colleen. In the Boys Relay, Justin, Collin, Iyayi and Tiger were 3rd.
In the 15 & Over Age Group, winning events were Annie Goessling and Madison Qualy, while placing in the Top 8 were Laura Bilsborrow, Hadley Edwards, Jack Finlay, Julia Herbig, Elizabeth Krane, Taylor Maurer, Hunter Mehring, Morgan Mullenix, Easton Noble, Etinosa Ogbevoen, Will O’Shea, Michael Seifert, Luke Sloan, Grace Stiegemeyer, and Maddie Wall. Placing in the Top 16 were Cameron Back, Samm Crocker, Haley Debandt, Sarah Fauska, Meghan Glogoza, Riley Merdinian, Ashley Reichert, Christopher Reichert, Bradley Riew, and Jonathan Scholten, while Lizzie Green also competed. In the 800 Free Relay, Annie, Morgan, Taylor and Grace were 2nd, while Elizabeth, Sarah, Maddie, and Samm were 3rd. The Boys team of Hunter, Luke, Easton and Garrett Knasel were 3rd. In the Medley Relay, the Annie, Madison, Elizabeth and Morgan won, while Ashley, Hadley, Maddie and Etinosa were 6th. Also competing in the Girls Medley Relay were the team of Riley, Grace, Samm and Julia, as well as the team of Lily Reisinger, Taylor, Haley and Sarah. In the Boys Medley Relay, Will, Hunter, Luke and Easton were 2nd, while Jack, Bradley, Michael and Christopher were 7th. In the Free Relay, Annie, Morgan, Maddie and Grace were 2nd, while Julia, Elizabeth, Etinosa and Sarah were 3rd. Also competing in the Girls Free Relays was the team of Samm, Haley, Madison, and Ellie George, and also the team of Ashley, Meghan, Hadley, and Jillian Franks. In the Boys relay, Hunter, Luke, Easton and Michael were 4th, while Christopher, Adam Hotaling, Cameron and Jack were 8th.
