Missouri High School State Champs and Minnesota Grand Prix
A Weekend of Big Swimming by CSP Tideriders
This past weekend members of the CSP team were busy at two very big meets. The Boys 2010 Missouri High School State Swimming and Diving Championships held at the St. Peters Rec-Plex, and the USA Swimming Minnesota Grand Prix Meet held at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
At the Boys State High School Championships we had numerous boys competing representing their perspective high schools. Tim Benage representing Chaminade placed 3rd in the 100 Butterfly and 10th in the 50 Freestyle. Nate Weiss representing Francis Howell North placed 5th in the 100 Backstroke and 11th in the 200 Freestyle. Mason Meine swimming for MICDS took 7th in both the 200 and 500 Freestyles. Andrew Dalton swimming for Chaminade placed 8th in the 100 Breaststroke and 11th in the 100 Butterfly. Brad Riew representing John Burroughs placed 13th in the 100 Breaststroke. Tim, Andrew, and Will O’Shea helped Chaminade place 8th in the 200 Medley Relay. Tim and Andrew also helped Chaminade to a 9th place finish in the 200 Free Relay. While Chris Bach and Brad Riew helped John Burroughs take 12th place in the 200 Medley Relay as well. Mason swam on MICDS 5th place 200 Free Relay and 9th place 400 Free Relay. Destry Newton swam on Ladue’s 12th place 200 Free Relay. Luke Sloan swam on St. Louis University High’s 400 Free Relay that placed 10th. Other CSP swimmers who competed in the preliminaries at the State meet included Garrett Knasel for Chaminade, Elliot Barnes for Parkway Central, Michael Seifert for Westminster, Drew Smith for MICDS, Jay Prapaisilp for John Burroughs, and Michael Green for Ladue.
Also this weekend members of the Elite group attended the USA Swimming Minnesota Grand Prix Meet in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Despite a blizzard on Saturday a great time was had by all that attended the meet. This was a fast and exciting meet attended by Olympian’s such as Ryan Lochte, Ricky Berens, and Christine Magnuson. CSP Swimmers that swam in the finals were Maddie Wall 16th in the 400 IM and 22nd in the 100 Fly, Annie Goessling 23rd in the 200 Breast, and Mary Beth Howard 23rd in the 200 Back. The 400 Free Relay Team of Maddie, Annie, Mary Beth and Morgan Mullenix placed 7th. The 800 Free Relay Team of Mary Beth, Maddie, Masha Podokshik, and Elizabeth Krane placed 5th and achieved a Junior National Time Standard. The 400 Medley Relay Team of Mary Beth, Annie, Maddie, and Elizabeth placed 5th as well. Alex Glogoza, Easton Noble, and Rachel Kokenyesi competed and represented CSP at the meet as well.
